My Birthday

This is the last week of living at home, before moving out and making my own home to live in. Quite exciting and perhaps a little scary, which just shows that I'm moving in the right direction.

So many feeling of joy and excitement are pulsating in me. I am eager to be done with cleaning bathroom and kitchen and finally starting to set up our decor and various other things. I am glad that we are taking this step forward and am looking forward building a nice place, a home with Michelle. Unpacking, setting up, putting food in a pantry, hanging with cats. All good things. Just started watching Nurse Jacky, TV show.

I sometimes find myself unable to occupy my free time, but I understand that I still can read and even paint, i just need some space to do so. I can go to the Black Rock Library for some internet.

Made some delicious soup on 21st, out of veggies, homemade chicken broth, fried onions n potatoes. Even michelle loved it. I added a little red chili pepper for a great spice play. I'm salivating just by typing about this super soup!

Boston College nostalgia. It has been 9 months since i have graduated, but i often receive relevant and not so relevant emails from the community. Undergrad was so much fun and learning, I would like to continue to have a connection to Chestnut Hill.

(Feb 24th) The day before my birthday? I'm really excited to read what i wrote in my birthday journal on my 23rd day of birth. I'm also eager to fill pages with my present thoughts and current influences. Is it weird, that i can not wait to get old? i understand that no matter our outlook, we all get older at the same rate, but if I anticipate my age, I feel that i would get a kick out of getting what i want - age. I am quite a reflective person and i think more people should listen to their thoughts, record them, and come back to it sometime later. Our view points change, we get influenced by random factors of life and if we don't take a minute and acknowledge and notice it, we might fall into a trap of thinking we have always been the way we are now. This is not true. Another great thing about reflections is that when i do eventually get old, say in my 50s and 60s, I would be able to look back at my 20s and even re-live the experiences i did have through words i put on paper or computer. Perhaps this is another reason i am excited to be old.

i am living fully now and am planning on doing so until the very last day I breathe. Nobody can take away my experiences, even if my memory fades, the letters I put will live, maybe long enough for my children and grandchildren to see and read and smile and what kind of person I was, what my values were and how weird it was to live in the world not riddled with technology to the extent our future will be :)

Last week of Momma's Boy

This is the last week of living at home, before moving out and making my own home to live in. Quite exciting and perhaps a little scary, which just shows that I'm moving in the right direction.

While I'm at it, here is another self test for leadership:
VISIONARY LEADERSHIP

The Visionary operates at 30,000 feet, is most comfortable working on long-term, strategic issues, embraces change and risk, and needs frequent exposure to both in order to feel satisfied and useful. They are often charismatic, are great communicators, and seek to build a tight, loyal team around them.

Let's start by looking at the main management style required for the phase called Early Struggle: the birth and very early infancy of the organization.
Think about anyone you know who has successfully started their own business. We typically call them Entrepreneurs, they tend to be very 'Visionary' How would you describe the 'Visionary' management style at the very launch of their business?
To me, it is like watching the launch of a rocket ship.
If you have ever watched any of the rocket launches down in Florida you will remember that the first few seconds burn up anenormousamount of energy - a huge amount of energy, exhausted solely to just lift that rocket off the earth's surface and getting it successfully into space.
The stage of early struggle is very like that: It takes somebody with energy, passion, vision, and with an exceptionally long term view to expend that huge amount of energy for a far-off goal.
That's classically the person we refer to as the 'Visionary'. It's the highly energetic thrust of the 'Visionary' that gets the business off the ground in the first place.
The 'Visionary' may be one, two or more people who have the energy, the passion, the vision and the enthusiasm to get the new business going - but however many there are, without that 'V', the vision has no chance of becoming a reality.
Typically in Early Struggle, the 'V' will attract a small group of people to work for him (or them), and demand a high degree of loyalty and a lot of hard work - because that's what's required to get the rocket ship launched.
The 'V' style is typically very:
Freewheeling;
Energetic;
Visionary;
Creative;
Fast;

Valentine's Makeover

Couple of weeks ago Michelle and I saw a flyer at our door asking if we'd be interested in entering a contest for make over. It just so happened we won and qualified for a free make over, free clothes and free dinner.

Greenwich Patch  covered our Valentine's Makeover. Great story. So did Greenwich Post and Greenwich Time. We were blown away and had tremendous fun. Special dinner at Ferrante Restaurant in Stamford completed our evening with wine and great food.

 Last week of living "at home" before making my own home to live in, with a nice girl, of course.

Reflection:
February: a month of big changes. I will be changing my address to Nash Lane. I think I'm prepared to the challenges and confrontations, and unforeseen struggles to come, but I feel comfortable tackling them with Michelle. I showed our apartment to mothership and my sister; they approve.

The New girl started working in the stability department. She tried to friend me the next day but couldn't find me. All good, she's chill and easy going, easy to work with and laugh and random stuff. My manager did a good job hiring another great person to the 2nd floor of skin department!

Past Sunday:
I have cooked some pork with pears and other goodies. I made it up, got inspired by reading some recipes online about pork n pears, and added a bunch of things that i had in the fridge.

If hinting gets you nowhere, ask to speak to someone in the retention or sales department directly.

P.S.
[Lately] I've discovered the mind-sound, created by thought for full on awareness of present.
Focus on just that.
I also imagine it as these tubes of sound inserted in my ears, tubes of white noise of silence. But all imaginary non the less.
